This project set out to make science and engineering more accessible to students from under-represented backgrounds — and we’re proud to say it delivered. Through a series of interactive workshops in local primary and secondary schools, the initiative aimed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and demystify university admissions for young people who might not otherwise see a future in STEM.
Inspire the next generation by making science and engineering hands-on and engaging.
Provide practical insight into university admissions, including pathways to studying engineering at Oxford.
Develop sustainable workshop templates to ensure the programme can continue and expand in future years.
The outreach team designed and delivered a series of interactive workshops, including:
Building simple circuits to explore the basics of electricity.
Launching paper rockets to introduce physics and engineering principles.
Running Q&A sessions on university applications and student life.
These sessions were developed to be replicable and scalable, so future volunteers can continue engaging new schools and students.
Delivered workshops across multiple schools, engaging primary and secondary students.
Empowered young people to see engineering as a real and achievable pathway.
Created a set of reusable resources to support the continuation of youth outreach efforts.
